Founder
A Chartered Naval Architect, having started in the industry in 1994 and graduating in 1996 from Southampton University, Matt went to FBM Marine on the Isle of Wight as a Naval Architect designing Fast Ferries, before moving on to join Ker Associates designing racing and cruising yachts, culminating in being part of the design team for the South African 2007 America's Cup Challenge in Valencia, Spain.
Moving back to the UK in 2007, Matt joined BMT Nigel Gee in Southampton initially as a Naval Architect, rising to become the Yacht Project Manager with experience ranging from small commercial craft through to 110m+ superyacht engineering, covering many market sectors and project types before he emigrated to Hong Kong in 2016. Once in Hong Kong, Matt undertook the role of Business Development Lead, APAC region for BMT, developing and expanding the network of shipyards and operators that BMT partner with as well as providing project support to the builds in the region. This work had an emphasis on the renewables industry but covered all the markets that BMT operate in.
Upon leaving BMT in 2020, Matt founded Pitchpole Asia Limited to continue to support the Marine Industry in the region as a truly independent consultancy firm.
Matt is a Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.
